In recent times, research has driven major progress in the treatment and care of patients with vasculitis.  That said, significant unmet patient need continues to exist.  Delays in diagnosis, difficulties in monitoring, relapsing disease and drug side effects all lead to poor patient outcomes.

Money raised by the Marie Crawford Boyd Foundation is contributing to support young Scottish vasculitis researchers in their quest to address many of these challenges.  These precious funds are helping to start up a variety of endeavours, ranging from studies which will inspect the role of advanced scanning methods in vasculitis to those which interrogate large healthcare databases in order to quantify the impact of these diseases with view to informing policy.
